Continue from Strawberry Picking

The driver led us rolled down the window and those warm breeze suddenly passed through my hair. The countryside view was simple, but serene. If you have ever thought of perfect sunny with warm yet cool breeze of an afternoon, that's exactly how that day was like.

We had a long talk with the driver about Maryland. I don't know how we jumped into the food topic but I'm telling you, this guy got so excited when he talked about food! He gave us lists of where we should eat and what we should get. And I absolutely love that. Not so many guys I've met get that excited when it comes to food which I'm pretty sure we would get along just fine on this page. Once we got to the metro station, he turned around and handed us a piece of bright yellow paper with fuzzy handwriting said the names of restaurants in MD on it. His face lit up with a big grin as he turned around and said goodbye casually.

After the long conversation about food, you bet we would get hungry! The train ride was lovely cause we're able to see more of Maryland countryside through the big glass window. And as soon as we got to the Gallery Place station, Katy and I immediately headed to Froyo and we both got a big bowl of ice cream. Typical us. But how could you eat dessert without a main dish to clean your palate, right!? ( Am I misunderstanding here?) And sure enough, we headed over to Lime, where they have great Mexican food along with as many as you want tortilla chips and various kinds of salsas. The bacon and avocado Quesadilla was served warm, ooey gooey with the cheese inside that soft thin bread and oh my gosh, it was to die for. We literally got stuffed after asking for more chips for the third time. So, Katy suggested us do a little walking to work those calories out a bit. Eventually, we started walking from Chinatown to Metro Center, passed the Monument, along with the white house, through the park by the National World War II Memorial and walking up the steps to Lincoln Memorial. We walked around the square shape building to see the beauty of Potomac River, the bridge, the statues and all. We then walked along the river to Georgetown, our most favorite place on earth. We always take this path home whenever we had a chance or got plenty of time. Even though it's far from shortcut since we lived at Dupont Circle. There was something cozy, special, charming and alive about this neighborhood.

That night, we got home blissfully exhausted, but such is life. Every little things that happened that day, all the strangers we have met and talked to made me feel so alive and I couldn't really explain why. The breeze was even hotter than usual, the exhausted walk we had plus not knowing how we would get home that night and 35 dollars we had spent on 15 minutes ride to the train and the loveliest time I had with Katy. Nothing turned out like we'd planed but somehow it was enough. I wouldn't trade that afternoon with anything else or have it any other way. - Candice.
