We are morning people. I don't know how many times I will keep telling you this, but we just have so much passion for this time of the day. And the only thing that makes each morning perfect is definitely breakfast. To me, happiness is breakfast and waking up early. Each night before I fall deep asleep, one last thing that always comes into my mind is "what's for breakfast?". It's the loveliest way to start off my day. One morning back in DC, Katy and I had come up with the plan of having breakfast together in different places every morning. Just to spend a little extra time together. If I want to get to know the city, I would as well do it through food. Bare with me, food is where the souls are. Katy and I always had one hour different schedules. Katy had to work at 8 and I had to work at 9 so we had to wake up super early. We had to ready and decide where we wanted to go or sometimes we would just wander off, to wherever we felt like it.

The crumbs, a little cupcake shop in downtown, was the first place we went. It has never been easy for us when it comes to choosing cupcakes. Our eyes widened with excitement. Believe me, everyone of them look pretty darn tasty. Eventually, we ended up with carrot cupcakes (Katy's favorite) and I got my peanut butter and chocolate cupcake with extra peanuts on top. Hmmm doesn't that sounds great!? From the seats by the window we could see the view outside clearly. The crowd walked up from the metro, hurried to their work, and didn't even seem to notice the gently hug of morning light and cozy air surrounded them. Everything seemed to be in a rush but somehow the compelling light, sweet air and cool breeze of early morning made everything alright.

There is something so comforting and right about morning. Everything was so lovely, serene, soft, and pleasant. And the sun soothes our smiles perfectly. We gazed down at people as they passed by while stuffing those cupcakes into our mouths, one after the other. Soon after, I said goodbye to Katy when it was time for her to go to work. She stood up unwillingly while mumbling how much she didn't want to leave. As Katy stepped outside, she turned around and gave me another big wave with that silly smile, even though we were going to meet each other again in less than an hour anyway. I love that moment. It was private. It belongs to only me and her, no one else can touch -Candice.
