If you think we would stop at that, you were wrong. Patrick and I walked back to where the merry-go-round was and sat on our favorite bench facing the carousel. The monument was as tall as we remembered except it was brighten with too many lights compare to where we were sitting. The merry-go-round looked deserted, completely different from the daytime where people would line up and enjoy their summer time in DC on the carousel. I really wished they would put the lights on even at night time like they did in the movies but the only thing I could see was the gray shadows of me and Patrick on the mirror on top of the carousel. I kept staring at myself in the mirror and waited if something magical would happen to us like those films I've watched.
I didn't know what was in the Patrick today, but he came up with the idea of us sneaking in the merry-go-round after he found a big gap of the fence. I, the one who suggested us doing something crazy, said no. But he didn't listen to me. Instead, he put himself through the gap and crossed to the other side easily. Ugh, good thing he was skinny! He looked at me challengingly and I had no choice except to follow him. It was not that i didn't want to do it, but from what just happened in the museum, it still gave me the creep. Anyway, I love him for making me getting inside cause since I stepped in, I couldn't stop smiling even one bit. Patrick put me on one horse and he got on the other one beside mine. We talked about random stuff. And before I even got to breath, Patrick saw the roundabout behind us, and like a little boy, he urged me to get on it with him. And of course, who could have said no to that?
We sat next to each other on a tiny chair and Patrick started spinning us around. Everything I saw was a blur but still, it was a charming blur memory and the other thing I could remember was that we both laughed so hard. At one point, we both heard the siren from police car and immediately we just looked at each other and waited. After a while, it was gone and we both led out big sighs of relieve. Lucky us the police didn't care about merry-go-round invaders. It was almost midnight but there were still people jogging and what not. I was surprised nobody noticed us even though we kept laughing the whole time.
Not sure how long we spent on the ride but time was not in our concern that night. Somehow we both got lost in the intensity of merry-go-round. That night we chose to forget every problems and let go of tiny little things in our heads. I felt like we were in some sorts of romantic movies. Except that no one was there to direct how we should act or what lines we should say to each other. It was my scene. Not somebody else's. So, I guess the lack of reality were sometimes necessary -Candice.
